This entry is dedicated to the college students struggling to get that 4.0 GPA! From the 2.0s to the 3.9s, this one is for you.
I used to take so much pride in being an honor roll student through out elementary and middle school. But for some reason when I got to high school all that changed. I went from making straight A’s to averaging every letter on the grading scale. All these years I’ve been struggling to maintain a 3.0 GPA and higher so that I can come off as smart. I wanted to prove I was a good student and that I did all my work. I believe that because I wanted to be this student I wasn’t, it only brought more strain to my academic career.
Well The truth is, the average college student maintains a 2.5 GPA. When you apply to most schools the admission criteria only requires a 2.5-2.8 at the lowest. (Based off colleges I got accepted to). Even some athletes only have to keep a 2.0 GPA.
So why are there students who cry at night because they fear sharing their grades with their parents? Why are there dance majors struggling to make a 4.0 GPA ? Why is there so much pressure on students to get higher than a 3.5 to get a good job? A resume specialist at the University of Missouri-Kansas City suggested that any GPA lower than a 3.0 shouldn’t even be on your resumé!
Hell, we’ve all heard the term “C’s get degrees” so here’s to the students who celebrate when they make a C or higher. The reality is, even if your GPA is a 2.7, you are still ABOVE AVERAGE ! So stop stressing and enjoy life!
